Getting into the Play

Strolling through the Warcamp!

Your campsite is located inside a camp (Viertel) of the big Warcamp, located around the Tross (retinue). Every camp has other believes, motives and objectives as well as very different playstyles and groups. In some camps you’ll find orcs, goblins or pirates – other camps might shun such characters and rather consist of nobles and knights while even others are home to celts and vikings. The first hours of play are the perfect time to take a stroll and get connected with other groups and characters.

10 LARP-Tips

Plot and Stories

Scattered throughout the warcamp and on the battlefield are strange-looking buildings, groupings and camps of player-friendly NPCs, which are used by the Regie and gamemasters to initiate stories and distribute quests among the players. You won’t be able to recognise these party roles and factions by the golden question mark above their heads, but if you keep your eyes open, you’ll find them. If necessary, simply play the Crow Mastery!

The Crow Mastery

The Crow Mastery (Krähenmeisterei) is the central information point on every campsite meadow and a playable location in the warcamp. Here you can get support for OT questions, but also make IT contacts, exchange information or send messages to other camps and NPCs – via the eponymous ‘crows’.

During the set-up phase, the Crow Mastery (Krähenmeisterei) ensures a smooth arrival and helps with camp organisation. During the game, it works closely with the Regie and NPCs to accompany plots and actions to support the game. If you have any questions or would like to immerse yourself in the game, you can contact the row Mastery (Krähenmeisterei) in-game – and play with them!

The Outpost

At the edge of the battlefield is the outpost – a busy place full of opportunities to prepare for upcoming battles. Here you will find blacksmiths to repair your equipment, a field hospital to treat the wounded and numerous NPCs with information or orders. If you want to get in the mood for battle or find allies, this is the place to be.

On the Battlefield

As a newcomer to LARP, taking part in a big battle can be an exciting experience. To have the most fun possible, it’s best to join a group – fighting together strengthens the sense of community, enables coordinated actions and helps you to better pick up and play out the prevailing mood. Whether it’s a disciplined battle line, a furious onslaught or a desperate retreat – together it’s easier to experience these moments intensively and act them out atmospherically.

If your character is hit, play out the injury – a hit to the leg, for example, can cause a limp, while a wound to the arm can result in you no longer being able to hold your weapon properly. This not only makes combat more realistic, but also gives healers and field scissors the opportunity to enter the game. Get treatment, improvise bandages or simulate a dramatic recovery phase – this creates a lively experience for everyone involved.

However, don’t overdo it – it’s perfectly fine to withdraw from the fight, continue acting out an injury or take a break.

LARP combat is not about dodging every hit or winning at all costs. It’s about creating impressive and epic scenes together. Take the theoretical weight of your weapons into account when you move, avoid frantic flailing around and use deliberate, clear strikes. This will not only create exciting and harmonious fights for you, but also a thrilling spectacle for everyone around you.

Have a fun (and slow) Night

All the crazy stuff that happens after the start of the game is a little too much for your taste? Then we recommend a nice and cosy evening at the taverns and the surrounding streets inside the Tross.
Get a drink and listen to the bards tales and songs – Mythodea will still be waiting for you the next morning!

The true Adventure...

The true adventure does not start right in front of your own tent but outside your camp in the wilderness of Mythodea.

There are lots of stories and small quests within every camp – but most heroics and thrills will await you outside the warcamp. At every important site you will probably encounter NPCs who can tell the tale of this place, give you some idea of the quests that need to be accomplished or might just attack you. In either case you should get the idea of what’s to do there. And hopefully you wont be alone but joined by other adventurers so you can overcome all evil together!
